Term 2 - Festive Sewing

It's that time of year again...

and all the children in my sewing clubs have been extremely excited to make their very own Christmas stocking!

I always like to start the children's Christmas sewing projects early to make sure everyone finishes in time before the end of the term. 

The children have also been making penguin decorations for the Christmas tree.

We've also been learning two new embroidery stitches - running stitch and backstitch. The children were able to practice these two new stitches by creating their own fabric gift tags.

In this photo above you can see some of the children were able to use chain stitch along the top of their gift tags. 

This is a difficult embroidery stitch which can take lots of practice but all of the children did a great job.
